Pursue Special Education
- Special Education majors desire to teach and make a positive impact on the lives of students with disabilities across K-12. Often inspired by their teachers, these majors want to specialize in creating inclusive environments and relationships with students navigating a world not built for them. As models of lifelong learning, majors work with integrity and an open mind to keep growing in their understanding of content and professionalism.
- Education majors are trained to see individual students as they are, recognizing the effects of American society on Education, and discovering their fit as educators. Special Education majors are required to take Foundation of Numbers (MATH 2008) courses, so they should Core Math courses earlier to not be slowed down in their Field of Study.
- This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses. Education courses include a field experience component.
- GHC’s Special Education degree is a good first step toward a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. Students should anticipate taking professional assessments as they work toward their state-issued teaching license.
