Pursue Middle Grades Education (STEM/NON-STEM)
- Middle Grades Education (STEM) majors desire to teach and make a positive impact on the lives of middle school and high school students. Often inspired by their teachers, these majors want to specialize in how to appropriately teach Math and/or Science to adolescents. As models of lifelong learning, majors work with integrity and an open mind to keep growing in their understanding of content and professionalism.
- Education majors are trained to see individual students as they are, recognizing the effects of American society on Education, and discovering their fit as educators. Middle Grades Education (STEM) majors are required to take Science courses for STEM majors, which are more fast-paced and rigorous than Science courses for non-majors. Students should take a combination of three Math and Science courses in their Field of Study.
- This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses. Education courses include a field experience component.
- GHC's Middle Grades Education (STEM) degree is a good first step toward a bachelor's degree in Education focused on STEM fields. Students should anticipate taking professional assessments as they work toward their state-issued teaching license.
- Middle Grades Education (Non-STEM) majors desire to teach and make a positive impact on the lives of middle school students. Often inspired by their teachers, these majors want to specialize in how to appropriately teach Language Arts and/or Social Sciences to younger adolescents. As models of lifelong learning, majors work with integrity and an open mind to keep growing in their understanding of content and professionalism.
- Education majors are trained to see individual students as they are, recognizing the effects of American society on Education, and discovering their fit as educators. To be preferred to pivot to a secondary area, Middle Grades Education (Non-STEM) majors are required to take a course outside of their preferred teaching area in their Field of Study.
- This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses. Education courses include a field experience component.
- GHC's Middle Grades Education (Non-STEM) degree is a good first step toward a bachelor's degree in Middle Grades Education. Students should anticipate taking professional assessments as they work toward their state-issued teaching license.
