The world of sport management is more than pro athletes and ball games. It’s a big business full of huge budget decisions and complex negotiations. With a sport management degree, you might go on to organize the Super Bowl, work for the New York Yankees, or build a facility plan for the major college or university. On the other hand, you might devote yourself to running your city’s youth basketball association or recreation department.

Whatever direction you take, you’ll need to draw on your knowledge of health, fitness, business, and law. Sport management involves any combination of skills related to planning, organizing, directing, controlling, budgeting, leading, and evaluating within the context of an organization or department whose primary product or service is related to sport or physical activity. By following a recommended sequence of courses, this pathway can be completed in four semesters. Start your journey toward obtaining your degree today.

Pursue Sport Management

  • Sport Management majors desire to create and manage sporting event opportunities for people to play or experience. Often inspired by their own experiences playing and/or watching sports, students want to discover their fit within a team of people who make inspirational sports moments happen.
  • Sport Management majors are trained to think broadly and act practically within the sports industry. Since Sport Management is at the intersection of Physical Fitness and Business Administration, majors can take some of these courses as well. Behavioral Sciences such as Psychology or Sociology can also provide insight into people’s actions and thought patterns.
  • This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses.
  • GHC’s Sport Management degree is a good first step toward a bachelor’s degree in Sport Management or Business Administration. GHC’s minor in Sport Management can be paired with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration or a bachelor’s in Health Science.
