Studying Sociology means that students are equipped with knowledge pertaining to social interactions, settings and groups. Sociologists explore topics related to family interaction, peer group associations, criminal behavior, as well as studies on members within diverse cultures. By following a recommended sequence of courses, this pathway can be completed in four semesters. Start your journey toward obtaining your degree today.

Pursue Sociology

  • Sociology majors desire to know why groups and societies behave and think the way they do. They often desire to accurately observe human behaviors across cultures, explore the ways people interact with each other (such as families), and grow in their understanding of areas of conflict. This drive to connect with people equips sociology majors for legal and community-based careers.
  • Sociology courses require written and social skills, along with a desire to ask good questions. Elementary Statistics equips majors to analyze data sets (economic, population, etc.). Sociology majors will need to choose a secondary discipline along with their psychology courses to further inform their approach to the field.
  • This degree can be completed fully online or with a mix of on-campus and online courses.
  • GHC’s Sociology degree is a good first step toward a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. While an associate’s degree can open the door to entry-level careers in social services, law, human resources, and community advocacy, advancement in these fields will require a bachelor’s degree and potentially a graduate degree.
