Pursue English

• English majors desire to be immersed in the world of words and grow in their interpretation and analysis of language. They value understanding various perspectives and literary genres, the history of word usage, and critical thinking. They also desire to excel at crafting their own work and discovering avenues of self-expression.
• English courses require a lot of reading and writing. If possible, avoid taking history and literature courses at the same time. Learning a foreign language is an effective way to learn how language functions, so this major requires multiple semesters of a foreign language, even for future English Education majors.
• This degree can be completed completely on campus, fully online, or a mix of both.
• GHC’s English degree is a good first step toward a bachelor’s in English, English Education, or any degree that focuses on crafting a message for an audience.
