How much is the fee?

The fee is $50.00 per semester.

How can I participate?

You may submit proposals for technology-related projects to be potentially funded by the Student Technology Fee. Please refer to the Proposal Form. The Student Technology Committee will review the proposals and final recommendations will be made to the cabinet based upon the received proposals.

How are the funds used?

The Student Technology Fee is used to support various student related technologies on all GHC campuses.  Some of the items covered are:  computer equipped classrooms, labs, software on workstations and servers, student servers, some other classroom technologies where appropriate, student related maintenance contracts, and some support staff responsible for maintaining student technology.  In addition, some funds are also available by request.  These can be for special projects, innovation, or some other student related technology purpose.  Anyone can complete a proposal request from this site.  These requests are reviewed by the CIO for approiateness and shared with the Cabinet and Student Engagement Council, if necessary, for overall approval. Smaller requests can be approved more quickly if available funds still exist for the current fiscal year.  Each year the Student Technology Fee budget is presented for approval by the Student Engagement Council at the time other student fees are voted on.

What is the Student Technology Committee?

The Student Technology Committee can assist in effective planning and general oversight of student-related technology at Georgia Highlands College. The membership of this group is comprised of the Chief Information Officer, the Associate Director of Information Technology, consultation with the Cabinet, the Student Engagement Counil, and any other representatives that might provide additional insight into a particular purchase.

How often are the proposals reviewed?

There is no set schedule for proposal reviews because they are dependent on the current year's budgetary process. The proposals can be reviewed by the Student Technology Committee and submitted to the cabinet for final approval.  Some submissions may be deemed mission critical to support student technology demands and an immediate decision is necessary.
