THE JOURNALISM PROGRAM AT GEORGIA HIGHLANDS COLLEGE OFFERS . . .
The first two years of the journalism core, leading to an associate of arts degree and easy transfer to a four-year college to complete a bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism with specialization in print or broadcast journalism, advertising, or public relations.
Practical experience in writing, layout and design, art, photography, desk-top publishing, and computer graphics from working on the Six Mile Post (award-wining student newspaper)—paid positions include editor, two print assistant editors, business manager, chief photographer, and an online assistant editor; many unpaid positions are also available

COMM-1101, Introduction to Mass MediaCritiques of work and awards for special group or individual achievement through the Georgia College Press Association, the Southern Regional Press Institute, and the Associated Collegiate Press
Participation in the Georgia College Press Association’s annual press institute, with the opportunity to run for state office (Georgia Highlands College students have served as GCPA president twice and have held numerous other GCPA offices.)
