Levels of Achievement

Students who participate in the Honors Program will be expected to complete a minimum of 20 credit hours H-designated or Honors option courses with a grade of “C” or higher in each of these. Students must maintain a 3.25 gpa to stay enrolled in the Honors Program. Students may earn an Honors Diploma or an Honors Certificate for their participation in the program. The requirements for each are below:

 

Honors Diploma Requirements

  • Complete 6 Honors courses according to the following distribution: 2 in Humanities, 2 in Natural Sciences & Mathematics, and 2 in Social Sciences (may be Honors Designated or Honors Option)
  • Complete 1 IDIS1100-Honors seminar (2 credit hours)
  • Present 3 capstone projects at the Honors symposium (suggested one per semester; no more than 2 per semester may be presented without prior approval by the Honors Committee)
  • Participate in three community service projects
  • Recognized as follows: Recognition at Honors Night, announced as “Honors Diploma” at graduation ceremony, notation on transcript as “Honors Diploma," and permission to wear distinctive Honors cords at the graduation ceremony

Honors Certificate Requirements

  • Complete 4 Honors courses in any areas (may be Honors Designated or Honors Option)
  • Complete 1 IDIS1100-Honors seminar (2 credit hours)
  • Present 2 capstone projects at the Honors symposium (suggested no more than one per semester)
  • Participate in 2 community service projects
  • Recognized with a certificate presented at Honors Night
